Mrs. Christina Salazar, ELA

Welcome Back Leopard Families!

My name is Christina Salazar and this is my 18th year in education, but my very first as a general education teacher in 3rd grade!

As a teacher, I spent the first 10 years supporting students with various disabilities, first in the Alhambra School District and then Deer Valley, as a special education teacher. In 2019 I became part of the 4th grade team here at LS and will now be one of the 3rd grade ELA teachers. I enjoyed the past 7 years I spent in 4th grade, but it was time for a change. I am looking forward to spending the year learning all about your child and building their ELA skills, along with a love
for reading.

A little about me: I am a born and raised Arizona native and can't imagine living anywhere else. I love the sun and our calm winters. I attended elementary school in the Washington School District and completed high school in the Glendale Union High School District where I was in a wide variety of activities all four years. I received my bachelor's degree from Arizona State University, specifically with a dual certificate in elementary education and special education, in 2009.  While I am a Sun Devil at heart I completed my master's degree in Administration and Leadership in 2023 through Grand Canyon University. I am a true life long learner and try to demonstrate that in the classroom too.

Personally, my husband and I have been married for nearly 17 years, and he is also an Arizona native. Our family also consists of four individually fantastic children. Samantha is a sophomore, Michael is an 8th grader, JJ (Jimmy Jr) is in 5th grade and the youngest, Anthony, is in 3rd grade. We are usually found at basketball gyms, football fields, theaters or auditoriums watching these four find their joy in all of their activities.

My belief is that all children can learn: "Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." -Author unknown

I look forward to this year collaborating and developing all my new 3rd grade kiddos!
