Welcome Back Leopard Families!

My name is Christina Salazar and this is my 17th year in education, and my seventh year as a full-time member of the 4th-grade team.

As a teacher, I spent the first 10 years supporting students with various disabilities, first in the Alhambra School District and then Deer Valley, as a special education teacher. In 2019 I became part of the 4th grade team and have not looked back. I firmly believe 4th grade is the best grade level to be part of, as we are the first year of your child being a "big kid upstairs". I love being a teacher and it is the dream job I always hoped to have; seriously, I am in my favorite place.

I am a born and raised Arizona native and can't imagine living anywhere else. I love the sun and our calm winters. I attended elementary school in the Washington School District and completed high school in the Glendale Union High School District where I was in a wide variety of activities all four years. I received my bachelor's degree from Arizona State University, specifically with a dual certificate in elementary education and special education, in 2009. I am a Sun Devil through and through, always Go Devils! While I am a Sun Devil at heart I completed my master's degree in Administration and Leadership in 2023 through Grand Canyon University.

Personally, my husband and I have been married for over 15 years, and he is also an Arizona native. Our family also consists of four individually fantastic children. Samantha is about to begin high school at Mountain Ridge; while Michael just left LS to continue junior high at Inspiration Mountain. Number 3 is JJ (Jimmy Jr) and he is going to be a 4th grader this year, here at LS! The youngest of our crowd is Anthony; he is also a leopard in 2nd grade. There are a lot of happenings in our home, so loud, crazy and constantly going is a normal part of our life. We are usually found at basketball gym, football field, theater or auditorium with our children watching them find their joys in all of their activities. When not educating kiddos or playing Uber mom, our family can be found spending our free time with our extended family doing whatever sounds good at the moment. We love to travel, go to the beach, and enjoy movies. As a family, we are big sports fans of all teams Arizona; the Cardinals, and Phoenix Suns are who we are always routing for! If our weekends aren't involving sports in some way, then it isn't the weekend.

Don't forget to join our grade level class dojo to stay up to date in all things 4th grade. Please feel free to reach out and get to know me at the above email as we all work together to have an amazing year!
